JASPER JAMES
Jasper James is a documentary photographer based in Lancaster, Ohio. His work explores American industry, skilled labor and the people behind the products and infrastructure we depend on every day.
Through photographs, films and books, Jasper preserves the character of working life — the machinery, traditions, environments and human stories that are too often overlooked.
His work is centered on factories, working people and the environments in which labor happens. He is drawn to the knowledge held by experienced workers, the visual character of industrial spaces and the ordinary moments that reveal how a place truly functions.
Jasper uses photography to preserve stories that could otherwise disappear. His images balance straightforward observation with an attention to color, light, composition and the physical details of work.
His photographs are created for books, exhibitions and editorial publication.
